A large cage (at least 30″x36″x30″ for small conures and 36″x40″x36″ for larger species) with closely spaced bars (1/2-3/4 inch) to prevent escape. The cage should be made of powder-coated or stainless steel to prevent rust and chips. Provide a variety of perches of different sizes and textures to exercise their feet and beak. Food and water bowls should be cleaned daily with mild soap and water. Offer a balanced diet of 75-80% high-quality pellets, supplemented with fresh fruits, vegetables, and a small amount of seeds. Calcium and vitamin supplements are also important, usually provided via cuttlebone or mineral block. Conures need UVB light exposure for at least 3-4 hours per day for proper calcium metabolism. Toys for foraging, chewing, and playing are essential for mental stimulation. Lastly, a carry cage is useful for transporting your conure safely.
