A leg band on our cockatiel’s leg was making his leg swell and cutting into it. We no longer have access to our former avian veterinarian service. The veterinarians I contacted indicated that they handled birds, but all were either no longer dealing with birds or no longer accepting new patients.

The first time we came to Scarborough Animal Hospital was based on an internet search on Saturday morning. Since they recently hired an avian veterinarian, we scheduled an appointment even though we had never been to the hospital before.

The doctor removed the band, cleaned the wound, and prescribed antibiotics and pain medication. In five days, his condition has improved and he is almost back to his normal level of activity.
