Eclectus Parrot Essential Care Supplies
Last Updated on July 23, 2024 by Ali Shahid
Eclectus parrots require a large cage, at least 36″ x 24″ x 48″, with horizontal bars spaced no more than 1″ apart. Provide a variety of perches of different sizes and textures to exercise their feet. Use stainless steel or ceramic dishes for food and water. Offer plenty of safe, parrot-safe toys to chew on and destroy, like those made of softwood, cotton rope, plastic, and shiny objects. Foraging toys that make them work for treats are also mentally stimulating. A play gym or T-stand allows supervised out-of-cage time for flying and climbing. Pellets should make up 60-80% of their diet, with the remainder fresh fruits and vegetables high in vitamin A like carrots, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens. Provide a calcium supplement and UVB lighting. Regularly clean the cage and accessories with a mild soap and water solution.
